Bitmain Antminer E9 and other miners should always work in environments with temperatures below 35 degrees Celsius. Here are what to do when the miner go into high temperature protection mode.

Bitmain Antminer E9 Normal Operating Temperature Range

For example, a S9i hash board working temperature is 85 degree Celsius maximum, anything beyond will cause the miner to go into high temperature protection mode and shut down.

Additionally, if the hash rate is zero, the miner may not be operating because of the high temperature protection mode.

You can examine the kernel log of the miner to make sure. The warning about high temperatures that is displayed in the miner’s kernel log is shown in the image below.

When temperature exceeds the acceptable range, other miners like S9, T9, and L3+ will also enter this mode.

The primary causes of high temperature must be addressed. Turn off the power for about two minutes, and then restart the miner. The high temperature protection mode, however, will still cause the miner to shut down if the outside temperature rises too much.

Reduce the outside temperature so that the miner’s body temperature doesn’t rise too high.

Please take apart the front fan to clean the dirt since dust buildup in the miner will also result in protection from high temperatures.

Please send the miner back for repair if none of the aforementioned methods worked and the temperatures are rising and affecting hash rate.
